The Discovery Society of MedStar Health Research Institute is a gift society recognizing annual donors of $1,000 and above, as well as donors who establish endowments. Through such recognition, the Institute seeks to continually strengthen support for biomedical and clinical research.
Gift levels are as follows:

*Annual donors of $1 million are given an opportunity to name a research fund or a research study.
Benefits of Membership:
- All Discovery Society members are recognized at an annual reception/lecture series, alternating between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, or points in between. The event each year includes an upscale reception, and clear, understandable lectures on cutting-edge research topics. This year, the Discovery Society's annual event will take place at the Engineer’s Club at the Garrett-Jacob’s Mansion in Baltimore, MD on April 29, 2008.
- Donations to the Discovery Society are solicited in person and through direct mail and electronic outreach. Donors are listed in a brochure, with an option for "Anonymous" for those not wanting to have their names publicized.
- All Discovery Society members receive periodic updates from the Institute's president, Neil Weissman, MD and other members of the senior leadership team
- Donors of $5,000 and above are invited to white coat tours of research laboratories, giving them an opportunity to interact personally with investigators in their research facilities, and thereby learn first-hand about ongoing, innovative research projects.
- Board members are given an opportunity to name the reception/lecture series for one year by donating $20,000.
